Malus domestica "Monty's Surprise, watercolour SOLD
I am delighted that both my artworks, 'Malus domestica 'Monty's Surprise' and 'Five Bean Salad' are both showing in the Auckland Botanic Gardens as part of the second 'Botanical Art Worldwide' exhibition.
New Zealand is participating in this exhibition with 'Our Plants - Past, Present and Future'O Tātou Tipu o Mua - o Ināianei me te Āpōpō' which runs until 29 June after which it will travel to Wellington Botanic Gardens then Ashburton in the South Island.

Worldwide Day of Botanical Art

May 18 is designated Worldwide Day of Botanical Art. and over the weekend of May 17 & 18 artists will be demonstrating different techniques used in botanical art at the Auckland Botanic Gardens.
I will be demonstrating my pen and ink work and how I use watercolour on vellum.

Workshops at Auckland Botanic Gardens
I will be running two workshops as part of Botanical Art Worldwide in May.
If you have ever wanted to have a go at painting a leaf in watercolour or if you already have some knowledge of watercolour, how about having a go at painting on vellum? These workshops on 10th May are just for you!
Or are you a complete beginner and want to learn how to work in watercolour?
Then the workshops on 24th May will suit your needs!
With a maximum of 10 per session, you will have lots of guidence and go home with the confidence to carry on at home.
There are morning and afternoon sessions for each workshop so there should be one to suit you.
Workshops at Selwyn College
Botanical Drawing and Painting - Capturing Nature in Art
Come along and spend the day with me at Selwyn College in Auckland, where we'll dive into the world of botanical drawing and painting. Whether you're a complete beginner, a gardening enthusiast, or an artist looking for a fresh creative outlet, this workshop is for you!
The day will cover essential topics, including an introduction to botany, an overview of contemporary botanical art, and techniques for creating tonal drawings with ink and graphite. After lunch, we’ll move on to watercolour, learning how to transfer your drawing to watercolour paper and apply various techniques to start your painting.
By the end of the session, you’ll have the knowledge to continue developing your painting at home.
